Countries and responsible leaders all over the world realized long time ago about the importance of alternative energy sources. Brazil for instance is the biggest producer and consumer of Ethanol in the world. Since the 80’s, Brazil has developed an extensive domestic ethanol industry; using ethanol as biofuel from the production and the refining of sugar canes. The factories that produce ethanol in Brazil have a positive energetic balance (+34%) by using the burned mass that they don’t use and converting it into ethanol. Since 2003, many of the cars in Brazil incorporated the technology of a flexible engine that allows the consumer to choose what type of fuel they want to use. In Colombia they begun the program in 2002; in March 2006 they had built five plants, all of them in the Rio Cauca valley. These plants are operating and producing 1,050,000 liters per day.
